From my last trip in Monterey and only my fourth time using the Kayak Sailor, using my paddle to turn would slow my boat down. I knew it was time to invest in a rudder.

With rudder installed, I was looking forward to this trip. Only thing was there was a lot of things happening in the Bay Area that would make things difficult. :witsend:

My route was to go through the Golden Gate Bridge and into Tomales Bay. There were two things happening in San Francisco; Bay to Breakers and the Amgen Tour. I wasn't worried about the Bay to Breakers because their route would go underneath 19th Avenue. I was worried about the Amgen Tour.

I missed getting to the bridge by about 5 minutes! About 20 cars in front of me, there was a police car slowing down traffic going to the bridge.

For the next 30 minutes, this is what it looked like going to the Golden Gate Bridge.

I knew from then on that this is going to be one of those days.
